NovaComm has helped the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO) launch an online campaign to mark the 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome and promote the impact of EU development aid worldwide.
NovaComm was first tasked with researching development facts and figures that could illustrate key achievements, including the number of seats held by women in parliaments, life expectancy or population living in slums - offering an interesting comparison over the past 60 years. Our content, graphic design and social media experts then put their heads together to illustrate these facts and produce 20 animated videos (GIFs) for Facebook and Instagram.
Our social media team also developed a photo quiz on Facebook and Instagram, promoting vintage photographs selected by DG DEVCO, which were taken in several countries across the globe including Zanzibar, Mozambique, Benin and Zimbabwe. We wrote engaging copy to promote the quiz and so far social media posts have garnered impressive results: over 40,500 total engagements (including likes, shares and comments). The posts also reached nearly 90,000 people and counting! Plus, the 7 GIFs already online reached over 83,000 views.
The 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome is one of the main events for the whole European Union in 2017 and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) launched #EU60, a corporate campaign from 25 March to 9 May, which looks back and commemorates some of the milestones that have shaped Europe today. DG DEVCO supports DG COMM’s efforts and launched a campaign to show how the EU has contributed to making the world a better place with multiple development stories.
In the year to come, NovaComm will continue working with DG DEVCO, namely to create and develop a responsive placeholder website featuring successful development stories from the past 60 years.
