European Green Capital Award: ICF Mostra videos highlight the candidates

Each year the European Commission Directorate General for Environment (DG ENV) hosts a competition for the European Green Capital Award (EGCA). For the 4th year in a row, ICF Mostra produced the awards ceremony presentation videos for the finalist cities. This year, a new award was launched, whose candidates were also featured in a video highlighting their achievements.

In total, six videos were produced by ICF Mostra, five of which were presented at the 18 June Bristol awards ceremony. Four clips were produced with audiovisual material from the 2017 candidate cities (Nijmingen, s’Herthogenbosch, Essen and Umea). These clips involved working with existing footage from the cities, and our team focused on the overall graphic design of the clips to draw the viewers’ attention to what makes each city worthy of the award. The dynamic one-minute overviews show the green initiatives and lively energy of each city.

A separate 4-minute clip was produced to introduce the new European Green Leaf (EGL) recognition award and the four candidates. This is a brand new award, similar to the EGCA, but for towns and smaller cities who have committed to green growth and jobs. To produce this video, ICF Mostra visited the four candidate cities (Torres Vedras, Mollet del Vallès, Ludwigsburg and Mikkeli) to get footage with a GoPro camera.

The final video produced was a souvenir clip for Bristol, who hosted the 2015 Award Ceremony, in which the 2017 EGCA and the two 2015 EGL awards were presented to Ljubliana, Mollet del Vallès and Torres Vedras, respectively.

The EGCA is the result of an initiative taken by 15 European cities which reward cities that are making efforts to improve the urban environment and move towards healthier and sustainable living areas. The European Commission DG ENV aims to recognise the important role local authorities play in improving the environment and overall quality of life for their citizens with these awards. The awards enables cities to inspire each other and share examples of good practices. In addition to these videos being shown at the awards ceremony, they are also appreciated by the candidates and winners as promotional material.

In addition to these clips, we produced the following video for EuroparlTV, the web TV of the European Parliament : Greening Bristol from the grassroots up

"A hub of ideas and innovations, can Bristol - this year's EU Green Capital - transform lifestyles and business to beat urban congestion and pollution?" Find out more on EuroparlTV.
