European Excellence Awards, Paris

ICF Mostra was shortlisted at the European Excellence Awards 2014 with the new phase of the Generation Awake campaign, “The Awakeners”, in the category Ecology and Environment.
This edition attracted over 1,600 outstanding PR and communications projects and campaigns.

The Awakeners

Every year in the EU we send materials worth around 5 250 million euros to landfill – a huge waste of valuable resources. Therefore ICF Mostra's integrated campaign, produced for the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Environment, aimed to raise public awareness of this waste of our planet’s limited resources and to focus collective energy on recycling and reusing what is seen as “rubbish”.

The idea was to boost visibility and impact of an existing EU campaign on resource efficiency by revitalising the creative strategy, developing engaging and integrated activities, and launching a brand new campaign phase under the theme of better waste management.

So, here’s where the creative strategy came in. ICF Mostra created ‘The Awakeners’, a revamped team of animated characters with a new member, Richard Rubbish. They invite the public to join the quest to change consumption habits, hooking them in via an integrated communication campaign, of which the flagship film, launched on social media, introduced the new movement of the Awakeners (starring its leading man, Richard Rubbish), and directed viewers to their headquarters - a spruced up website in 24 languages, stuffed with interactive tips and videos.

Silver Dolphin - An interoperable Europe

The Digital Single Market – an intelligent vision aimed at enhancing Europeans’ experiences of living, working, travelling, studying or setting up a business anywhere in the European Union. Its realisation partly hinges on policy makers taking ‘interoperability’ into consideration when planning an e-service project to ensure that eServices are de facto interoperable both within the Member State itself between public administrations, and within the EU.

This clip for the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Informatics (DG DIGIT) mixes video and animation and features an orchestra as a way of showing how different instruments can play together to produce a harmonious sound.

Silver Dolphin - Common Agricultural Policy (CAP): Produce Food

This clip is one of a trilogy produced for the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development, that aims at raising awareness of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and its beneficial impact on the lives of EU citizens.

Highlighting the wider role that farmers play in our society, this lively animation shows how Europe’s farmers are helping to meet the challenges of ensuring security of high quality, diverse, affordable food for more than 500 million Europeans.
